Spring 2025 Season Information
Program Overview
Our Spring program commences the 3rd week of March, concluding around the end of June. Currently, we offer programs for 7th - 8th grade girls and 6th through 9th grade boys. Tryouts are open to all players in the Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts regions. While these are our current offerings, we are actively exploring expansion into additional programs for boys and girls in grades 4 and above, up to the Varsity Level.
Team Practices
The Ocean State Kraken Teams engage in weekly practice sessions, twice per week, lasting 1.5 hours each. During the first half of these sessions, we emphasize individual skill development, fine-tuning, and the reinforcement of fundamental techniques for each player. Cardiovascular fitness, ball handling, and both offensive and defensive skills are honed through strategic drills and exercises. In the latter half of our practices, we shift our focus to team concepts. This phase involves learning and executing offensive and defensive formations, as well as situational game plans, in preparation for upcoming tournaments. Our practices are held at gyms located in Warwick and Coventry Rhode Island.
Tournaments
The Spring season tournaments commence around the first week of April, and run through June. Our teams will participate in 5-6 tournaments (Age/Division), each guaranteeing a minimum of three games. Additionally, there is the potential for advancement to additional matches and a championship. These tournaments are conveniently located within a drivable distance, typically less than one hour north of Providence, ensuring accessibility for our team.
Finances
Teams are formed with anywhere from 9-10 players. The cost of gym time, tournament fees, uniforms (for new players), and other league incurred costs are all factored into the registration cost. The cost for the Spring Season is $525, plus the cost of uniform. Uniforms for the Fall Season are $135.00, and include custom reversible shorts, reversible jersey, and warm-up/ shooting shirt with names. Returning players do not require a new uniform. We run the program as a not-for-profit, so dependent on the number of players taken for any particular roster, the season cost could be adjusted down!
